Sam Coomes gründete 1993 das Duo Quasi, mit dem er über 20 Jahre auf Labels wie Touch & Go oder Kill Rock Stars Platten veröffentlichte. Die zweite Hälfte des Duos war Janet Weiss, Drummerin von Sleater-Kinney. Als Produzent arbeitete er u.a. für Built To Spill oder Elliott Smith. Sein 2016er Solo-Debüt „Bugger Me“ (Domino) beschreibt ein Kritiker sehr treffend als „Suicide meets Plastic Ono era John Lennon“.
